Prayer Items

Several standing requests usually always top the list:

• Safety and Productivity continue to top the list: safety from known and unknown dangers, and productivity to accomplish all that is before me.

• Prayer for the Somali Christians is always needed, appropriate, and in order. In addition to Hussein & Howa*, there is also the young Somali man I am training and now the particular need of the Somali Christian who almost lost her life. Fervent prayer for her continued safety are most urgent and appropriate.

• Ethiopia: following a peace agreement, atrocities and inequities, though not as extensive as before, continue and are a real source of trouble. In addition, there is the onward march of Islam, to take over the country and impose sharia law (Islamic law, which has no patience for Christianity or anything other than its own kind). Your prayers that this would turn around would be most helpful and appropriate.

• Having white skin perennially draws many who are looking for financial help, or for other things. Pray for wisdom to be gracious and firm, to recognize genuine need, and to avoid unnecessary issues. Also, to point people to real, long term solutions.

Specific requests:

• Publications: the items slated to be published, whether free standing articles or the possibility of a book, carry potent material. Pray that these would be clear, well-grounded, of a congenial spirit, and finally, highly fruitful.

• The two orphans, that there would be provision so they can live without fear of need, and so they can get on their way in life with purpose, direction, and the joy of the Lord!

• The Logos Project

  • That the hoped for venture into Northern Ethiopia this fall would be fruitful, and open many doors - not just for software, but for a real hunger for and understanding of God’s Word.

  • That the major Kenya initiative, to provide Logos for the ministers in a whole denomination, would progress smoothly, and that adequate funding would become available.

Let all be done with prayer and supplication:

Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Eph. 6:18

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Phil. 4:6

And even Jesus: In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard for his godly fear. Heb 5:7
